With school back in session and families settling into their fall routines, September often means figuring out that other piece of the calendar: activities that keep kids moving, learning, and having fun.
That's one reason we're excited to put the spotlight on KidsUnited, a year-round indoor early childhood development program that uses soccer as a tool to help children ages one and a half to nine develop important physical, social, and cognitive skills.
But KidsUnited isn't simply about teaching kids how to play soccer.
More than soccer
Traditional youth sports often revolve around teams, seasons, games, and competition. KidsUnited takes a different approach by focusing on the individual child and meeting them at their current developmental level.
Small class sizes and personalized coaching give children an opportunity to learn at their own pace while developing foundational soccer and movement skills. Along the way, they're also working on coordination, listening, problem-solving, independence, and confidence.
The goal isn't simply to create better soccer players. It's to use movement and play as tools to help kids grow.
Growing with your child
KidsUnited's programming is designed to evolve as children do.
For younger participants, parent-assisted classes provide an opportunity for toddlers to explore movement in a comfortable environment alongside a parent or caregiver. As children get older, classes gradually encourage greater independence while introducing new skills and challenges.
That progression allows kids to build on what they've already learned rather than being pushed into a one-size-fits-all program.
And because KidsUnited operates year-round and indoors, families aren't dependent on a traditional sports season—or the unpredictable North Texas weather—to keep kids active.
Confidence without the pressure
One of our favorite things about the KidsUnited philosophy is its emphasis on confidence.
For some children, jumping immediately into a competitive team environment can feel intimidating. A development-focused program gives them room to try something new, make mistakes, practice, and improve without everything revolving around a scoreboard.
Those little successes add up.
Learning a new skill, completing a challenge independently, listening to a coach, or simply becoming comfortable participating in a group can all help children build confidence that reaches well beyond the soccer field.
A resource for North Texas families
KidsUnited began its Texas presence with its Frisco | Plano location and has since expanded with a Celina location, making the program accessible to more families throughout the growing North Texas community.
Families interested in the program can also try a class before committing, giving parents and kids an opportunity to experience the environment and see whether it's a good fit.
Helping little kids accomplish big things
We love highlighting local businesses that bring something meaningful to the families in our community, and KidsUnited does exactly that.
Soccer may be the tool, but the bigger picture is helping children become more confident, capable, active, and excited to learn.
Whether you've got a soccer-obsessed kiddo or one who's never kicked a ball before, KidsUnited offers a place to learn, move, grow, and—most importantly—have fun.
